Whitland Ladies XV 77 – Tredegar Ironside Ladies XV 5
Whitland Ladies produced an awesome display last Sunday, not only in the set pieces and open play, but in every aspect of the game, showing deft, ball skills and tremendous team work and the crowd were fully entertained seeing the ladies run in 13 tries in all.
The scrum was solid with no 2 Kate Bowen taking half a dozen strikes against the head, the line out was dominated by Jenny Hawkins, the rucks and mauls, the back row of Vicky Owens, Liz Thomas, Jenny Hawkins were dominant, the deft touches by out side half Lucy Peach and the hard direct running of centres Natalie Walsh and Nina Bishop were outstanding, but everyone of the whole squad contributed totally to the overwhelming victory and were superbly lead by skipper Natalie Bowen, the corner stone of Whitland’s scrum, and the highlight of all the tries was her 60 meter run in like a bull bursting through gates, the Ironside’s defence were left trailing in her wake.
Whitland’s try scorers – 3 by outside half Lucy Peach, 3 by centre Natalie Walsh, 2 by centre Nina Bishop, 2 by prop Natalie Bowen and 1 a piece for flanker Jenny Hawkins, winger Emma Moseley and 1 for full back Sion Robinson, Natalie Walsh converted 4, and Lucy Peach 2. The Ironside; s consolation try came from scrum half Rachael Jones.
